Your Eco-Friendly Journey Interview Series – Meet Inés

Inés is an Eco-warrior from Spain. She started her Journey 8 months ago. She enjoys gardening, making cleaning supplies, making food from scratch, and growing food.

Here’s her story:

What made you start living with the earth in mind?

I can’t remember a particular point when the scales fell from my eyes, but it came gradually… I got fed up seeing all this mindless overconsumption, piles of trash everywhere, and nobody batting an eye as if this were just the price of convenience. And I thought, there must be a better way!

Have you encouraged others to join you?

I talk about it to friends and family all the time but try to do so in an encouraging instead of preaching way. My in-laws are completely on board now and a few friends have told me I inspired them to live better, that’s been the most amazing feeling!

What has been the most challenging part about living Eco-Friendly?

Avoiding food packaging, hands down.

What’s your favorite Eco-swap?

A travel mug that keeps cold drinks cold and hot ones hot, I take it everywhere.

What has living with the Earth in mind taught you?

That everything-humans, plants, animals – are interconnected. We all depend on each other so we need to treat everything around us with care!

Any advice you’d like to give others who are starting an Eco-Friendly lifestyle?

Start small. It takes time to learn and improve. Just keep going and don’t get discouraged. A single-use lifestyle isn’t like an addiction, we have to learn to beat old habits first.
